Turquoise:
The name “turquoise” comes from the French word “turquoise”, meaning “Turkish,” as the stone first arrived in Europe through Turkey from the historic mines of Iran. In Ancient Greece, it was known as “Kallaitis” or “Kallais lithos,” meaning “good stone.” Turquoise is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminium, known for its distinctive blue to blue-green hue. It is characterized by a triclinic crystal system and a hardness of 5–6 on the Mohs scale. The most notable deposits are found in Iran, China, Chile, Egypt, Mexico, and the United States, with highly regarded varieties sourced from Arizona.

Pyrite:
The name “pyrite” derives from the Greek word “pyr,” meaning fire, because it produces sparks when struck against metal. In the past, it was also referred to as “fool’s gold” due to its brassy, golden metallic luster that resembles real gold.Pyrite, also known as iron pyrite, has the chemical formula FeS₂ (iron disulfide), belongs to the sulfide mineral group, and is one of the most common sulfur-bearing minerals. It is characterized by the cubic crystal system and the hardness of 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale. Major sources of pyrite include Peru, Spain, the USA, and Bolivia.
