The name of this mineral is derived from its color, due to the fact that it often resembles of the sky or the sense of heaven. Angelite is also known as “Blue Anhydrite” or “Angel Stone”. It is an anhydrous calcium sulfate with the chemical formula CaSO4. It is characterized by the orthorhombic crystal system and the hardness of 3.5 on the Mohs scale. The color of Angelite ranges from light blue to a blue-grey. Some notable sources of Angelite are Peru, Mexico, Germany and the USA.
