STONE DETAILS
The name which this mineral bears, originates from the ancient Greek name of the river in Sicily, where agate was first discovered. It is a silicone dioxide belonging to the Quartz family, and is formed by relative layers of chalcedony, in which each layer has different colouring. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Agate can be found in many countries, including Brazil, Italy, Greece, Peru and Mexico.
