STONE DETAILS

Aquamarine The name of this mineral derives from the Latin “aqua-marina” which means salt water, due to its colour. It is a Crystalline Silica and belongs to the Beryl family. It is characterized by the hexagonal crystal system and the hardness of 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale.  Aquamarine can be found in various countries including Brazil, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

Hematite Hematite comes from the Greek word “aima” which means Blood and it is an Iron Oxide. It is characterized by a hexagonal crystal system and a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale. Hematite can be found in various countries, including Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand.

Agate The name which this mineral bears, originates from the ancient Greek name of the river in Sicily, where agate was first discovered. It is a silicon dioxide belonging to the Quartz family, and is formed by relative layers of chalcedony, in which each layer has different coloring. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Agate can be found in many countries, including Brazil, Italy, Greece, Peru and Mexico.
