Chrysocolla Chrysocolla takes its name from the two Greek words “chryso” and “colla”, because it bears a strong resemblance to the substance used to solder gold in ancient times. Chrysocolla is an aluminum silicate which is characterized by the orthorhombic crystal system and the hardness of 2-4 on the Mohs scale.
