STONE DETAILS
The name carnelian originates from the Latin “Caro” which means “flesh”due t the reddish/brown colouring. This stone belongs to the Quartz family, and is a silicone Dioxide with trace elements of iron ore. It is characterized by the Trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 6-7 on the Mohs scale. Carnelian may be obtained in different countries, some of which are Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Germany and India.
