STONE DETAILS

The name carnelian originates from the Latin “Caro” which means “flesh” due to the reddish/brown coloring. This stone is a silicon dioxide with impurities of iron oxide and it belongs to the Quartz family. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 6-7 on the Mohs scale. Carnelian derives from different countries, some of which are Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Germany and India.
