The origins of the name of Jasper are not well documented, but the roots are almost certainly Eastern. Ocean Jasper is a silicate mineral, that belongs to the tectosilicate group and Quartz family. It is a multicolored stone typically with spherical patterning, which is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Ocean Jasper derives from Morocco.
