STONE DETAILS

Amethyst The word Amethyst has its origins in the Greek words «α» and  «μεθώ»  Not Intoxicated, as in years gone by, it was believed that Amethyst protected against drunkenness. Amethyst is a form of Quartz  also containing manganese, iron and titanium, while the main structure is of Silicone Dioxide, while the purple colour, is due to the presence of iron and aluminum. Amethyst crystals are in the trigonal system and measures 7 hardness on the Mohs scale. Amethyst is derived mostly from Brazil and Uruguay.

Onyx The word Onyx comes from the ancient Greek and means nail. It is a silicone dioxide-that is a type of Quartz, and has a hardness of 6- 7 on the Mohs scale. It has a trigonal crystal system and can be found in Brazil, Mexico, Algeria, Uruguay and India, to name just a few.

Hematite Hematite comes from the Greek word “aima” which means Blood and it is an Iron Oxide. It is characterized by a hexagonal crystal system and a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale. Hematite can be found in various countries, including Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand.
