STONE DETAILS

Malachite The name given to this mineral is derived from the green plant marshmallow, due to its rich green color. Malachite is a copper mineral and it belongs to the category of carbonate minerals. It is characterized by the monoclinic crystal system and the hardness of 3,5-4 on the Mohs scale. Its color denotes the presence of copper. Malachite can be found in areas such as Congo (fibrous Malachite), Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Kazakhstan, and the Ural mountains.

Hematite Hematite comes from the Greek word “aima” which means Blood, due to the red coloration found in some varieties of Hematite. It is an Iron Oxide, which is characterized by the hexagonal crystal system and the hardness of 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Hematite can be found in various countries, including Brazil, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand.
