STONE DETAILS

Amazonite Amazonite takes its name from the River Amazon, due to the wealth of green stones that were found there in the past, but it is doubtful that much green feldspar was actually found in the Amazon basin. Amazonite belongs to the group known as silicates of the tectosilicate family, and is an example of Microclines. It is characterized by the triclinic crystal system and the hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Amazonite can be found in different countries, including Brazil, India, the Ural mountains of Russia, and Colorado in the USA.

Hematite The word Hematite comes from the Greek word “aima” which means Blood, due to the red coloration found in some varieties of Hematite. It is an Iron Oxide, which is characterized by the hexagonal crystal system and the hardness of 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Hematite can be found in various countries, including Brazil, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand.

Agate The name which this mineral bears, originates from the ancient Greek name of the river in Sicily, where agate was first discovered. Agate consists mainly of chalcedony and quartz and It is a silicate mineral, belonging to the tectosilicate group. Its chemical formula is silicon dioxide and it belongs to the quartz family. Agate is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale. It can be found in many countries, including Brazil, Italy, Greece, Peru and Mexico.
