STONE DETAILS

Emerald Its name comes from the Greek world “Smaragdos”, which means green. Emerald belongs to the silicate minerals and it is a specimen of the beryl mineral family with a characteristic green color. Its color caused by trace amounts of vanadium and chromium. Emerald is characterized by the hardness of 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale and hexagonal crystal system. Some of the most important sources of emerald include Brazil, Columbia, Ethiopia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Pyrite The word “pyrite” is taken from the Greek word «pyr» meaning fire, because pyrite produces sparks when struck by metal surface. Many years ago, they used to call it “fool’s gold”, because of its colour that resembles that of gold. Pyrite or Ironpyrite is one of the most common sulphide minerals with a chemical composition of FeS₂ (iron disulfide). It is characterized by the cubic crystal system and the hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Pyrite is derived mostly from Peru, the USA, Bolivia and Spain.
