STONE DETAILS

Its name derives from the Greek word “kyanos”, which means ‘deep blue’, due to its characteristic blue color. Kyanite is an aluminum silicate mineral, which belongs to the category of Nesosilicates. Its hardness differs on its horizontal and vertical sides. The hardness on the Mohs scale is 4.5-5.5 along to the long axis, while it is 6-7 along to the short axis. Kyanite is characterized by the triclinic crystal system and it is derived mostly from Brazil, the USA, Switzerland, Austria, India, Russia, Serbia and Kenya.
