STONE DETAILS

The name Rhodochrosite comes from the combination of Greek words “rodon” meaning rose and “chrosis” meaning coloring, describing the rose-pink color of the stone. It is a manganese carbonate mineral and its color ranges from light pink to intense red. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 3.5- 4 on the Mohs scale. Rhodochrosite is derived mainly from the USA, Peru, Mexico, Argentina, Rumania and South Africa.
