STONE DETAILS
The name smoky quartz was given to this mineral because the interior resembles a smokescreen. It is a silicate mineral belonging to the tectosilicate group and quartz family. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Smoky quartz can be found in different countries including Brazil, Africa, Madagascar, Switzerland, Scotland, Australia, and the USA. Rutile is a titanium oxide mineral with a chemical composition of TiO2 and it appears as needle-shaped crystals in other minerals, such as quartz, garnet and ruby.
