STONE DETAILS
Its name is derived from the Greek word “topazion”, meaning to seek, apparently in allusion to the island of Zabargad in the Red Sea, the location of which was long hidden. Topaz is a silicate mineral with a chemical composition of Al2SiO4(F,OH)2 and it occurs in nature in various colors such as yellow, orange, blue, pink, red, brown, green and colorless. It is characterized by the orthorhombic crystal system and the hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale. Sources of topaz include Brazil, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia, India, Madagascar, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Russia and the USA.
