STONE DETAILS

Amethyst The word Amethyst has its origins in the Greek words “a” and “methw” Not Intoxicated, as in years gone by, it was believed that Amethyst protected against drunkenness. Amethyst belongs to the quartz family and it is a silicate mineral with a chemical formula SiO₂. Its color is due to the presence of iron. Amethyst is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Amethyst is derived mostly from Brazil and Uruguay.

Carnelian The name carnelian originates from the Latin “Caro” which means “flesh” due to the reddish/brown coloring. It is a silicate mineral colored by impurities of iron oxide and it belongs to the quartz family. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 6-7 on the Mohs scale. Carnelian derives from different countries, some of which are Brazil, Russia, Peru, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Germany and India.
