It is a kind of Agate, which derives from Botswana and this is why it is named Botswana Agate. It is a silicone dioxide belonging to the quartz family, and is formed by relative layers of chalcedony, in which each layer has different colouring. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
