STONE DETAILS

Agate The name which this mineral bears, originates from the ancient Greek name of the river in Sicily, where agate was first discovered. It is a silicone dioxide belonging to the Quartz family, and is formed by relative layers of chalcedony, in which each layer has different colouring. It is characterized by the trigonal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Agate can be found in many countries, including Brazil, Italy, Greece, Peru and Mexico.

Amethyst The word Amethyst has its origins in the Greek words “α” and “μεθώ”  Not Intoxicated, as in years gone by, it was believed that Amethyst protected against drunkenness. Amethyst is a form of Quartz  also containing manganese, iron and titanium, while the main structure is of Silicone Dioxide, while the purple colour, is due to the presence of iron and aluminum. Amethyst is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Amethyst is derived mostly from Brazil and Uruguay.
