Hematoid Quartz, also known as Ferruginous Quartz, is a variety of Quartz with a red to brown Hematite coating or internal inclusions. Its chemical formula is SiO₂ and it is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Ferruginous Quartz can be found in Brazil, the USA, South Africa, Switzerland, Madagascar and Germany.
