STONE DETAILS

Lapis Lazuli Lapis lazuli comes from the Persian word ”lazhuward” (sky blue) It is a stong blue colour and often has “gold” shimmers due to the presence of pyrite which it often contains. It is formed mainly from aluminum,  natrium, calcite, sulphur,  and minute crystals of pyrite. Its hardness on the Mohs scale is 5-5.5 and it is characterized by the Isometric crystal system. Lapis Lazuli can be found in a few countries, including Afghanistan, Egypt and Chile.

Crystal Quartz The name for this mineral derives from the Greek word “xalaza”, which means hail, due to the fact that in ancient times many people believed that it is solidified water. It is a silicone mineral, which cris characterized by the trigonal or hexagonal crystal system. Its hardness is measured at 7 on the Mohs scale. Crystal Quartz can be found in various countries, including Brazil, the USA, Sri Lanka, India and Madagascar.
